Pond Study and Water Quality

Description: With a few simple tools like nets and pipettes, you can learn a lot about a pond habitat. Collect aquatic macroinvertebrates, attempt to identify them, and learn what they tell us about the water quality and food web of Westwood Lake.

Target age range: for ages 5–12 years

Cost per child/student: $7 ($5/St Louis Park resident)
Cost per adult/educator: free

Sibling policy: Non-enrolled siblings (younger or older) may accompany their parents but may not participate in the program. Parents are asked to use their best judgement as to whether or not their non-participating children will be disruptive to the program.
Parent/guardian/educator Policy: Children must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.
