Theatrix

Theatrix's Zanna Joyce and Susan Bundlie are excited to announce that once again they have been able to secure a limited number of underwritten tickets for several Guthrie preview productions for the 2016-2017 season. The Guthrie is aware that many families who homeschool or use alternative methods of education have financial limitations, so it generously continues to underwrite these tickets to increase accessibility to fine regional theater.

Zanna and Susan are former homeschooling parents who had a non-profit homeschool community theater, Theatrix, from 1995-2006. For several years, they've offered discounted Guthrie Theater preview tickets for homeschooling families. Theatrix is not a business. Zanna and Susan just love theater.

A Twin Cities holiday tradition

Description: A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with a “bah humbug,” until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Through a restless night, the spirits show him happy memories from his past, cruel realities from the present and the grim future should he continue his cantankerous ways.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a perennial favorite that continues the Guthrie's holiday tradition for the 43rd year. Now is the time to experience this cherished production with your loved ones!

by Charles Dickens
adapted by Crispin Whittell
directed by Lauren Keating

Preview performance: Live theater is dependent upon an audience, and preview performances are integral to all company members as they prepare to open a show. During the week before opening night the company continues to rehearse during the day, making changes based on what they learn during preview performances in front an audience.

Target age range: The Guthrie recommends children be at least 8 years old but admits children as young as 5 years. Not all plays may be suitable for all ages. Please feel free to consult the Guthrie (by email or online) with specific questions about the age-appropriateness of a production.

Tickets continue to be a lucky $13 apiece!
Cost per child/student: $13
Cost per adult/educator: $13

Registration: Seats are limited and reserved on a first-come basis. To obtain tickets:

  1. Send an e-mail to theatrixinformation(at)gmail.com specifying the number of tickets you’d like and for which performance.
  2. Receive an email confirming your request.
  3. Send a check, made payable to “Theatrix,” to...
      Theatrix
      1628 Ashbury Place
      Eagan, MN 55122
  4. Receive another email confirmation when your check is received.

If tickets for a particular production are sold out, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified if, or when, more tickets become available.

Payment to Theatrix for each performance is due 6 weeks before the performance. If your payment is not received at least 6 weeks before the production you want to attend, your order will be cancelled, and the tickets will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

Payments are not refundable, but you may arrange to have someone else use your tickets if you are not able to make a performance.

If you are unable to attend a performance, please let Zanna and Susan know as soon as you can—right up to 10 minutes before the curtain goes up (a text is fine).

Either or both Zanna and Susan will be at the Guthrie with your tickets ½ hour before the start of each play, standing on the ground floor near the first large “box” structure on the right side of the main floor as you come in the door.

Late Seating: The Guthrie does not guarantee late seating after a performance begins. Late seating may or may not be permitted at the discretion of the director at an appropriate break in the action. You may be seated in an alternate location designated for late arrivals and take your original seats at intermission.

Sibling policy: All children must have a ticket and children under 8 are never admitted.
Parent policy: Adult supervision is not provided.

The Guthrie has a wealth of opportunities available through its youth and education programming. Be sure to investigate at www.guthrietheater.org/education
