Final performance on Tuesday, March 13

Description: What happened when the lights curiously went out? It’s a mystery! Someone or something is behind this mischievous deed. Only your team can crack the case! Create an original play about teamwork, perseverance, and some good-old fashioned sleuthing.

Throughout this class young artists collaborate to create an original play using their imaginations & teamwork to develop the plot, characters, dialogue, and setting.

Create a Play is SteppingStone’s introduction to devised theatre where young Artists collaborate on an original performance using their own ideas for story, character, dialogue and setting. Supported by a SST Teaching Artist, each class learns skills in theatre elements like acting through voice and movement, improvisation and exploring different expressive styles.

Theatre learning at ages 8-12 looks like:

  • Asking critical questions about characters and plot based on given circumstances.
  • Collectively refine and evolve artistic choices in group devised drama work.
  • Scaffold and build on performance skills in voice, movement and acting.

Target age range: for ages 8–12 years (2nd–6th grades)

Cost per child/student: $100

Registration: Register online at Late registrations welcome.
