Homeschool Theatre Explorers

Tuesday, January 30, 2018Tuesday, March 13, 2018 (7 weeks)
9:00 am – 10:00 am

Please register by: Wed, Jan 10, 2018

Description: Every experience is an adventure for your toddler. Be theatre explorers! Your child's journey begins with interactive songs, stories and hands-on sensory play followed by an expedition into hands-on creative drama and an art-making investigation. Your child will build confidence, communication, and social skills as they explore ideas through their senses and creative play!

This class uses SST’s early learner theatre curriculum with a toddler twist! First four weeks are inspired by the colorful creatures of Eric Carle including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Mixed Up Chameleon, The Very Busy Spider & From Head to Toe. Toddlers explore, observe, question, and collaborate during child-led and teacher-guided learning opportunities. The last three weeks introduce and explore socio-emotional skills through creative drama investigations using their bodies, voices and imaginations. Inspired by picture books like Sophie Gets Really Really Angry, Owl Babies and Leonardo the Terrible Monster.

Theatre learning at ages 18 months-3 years looks like:

  • Combining objects or materials in new and unexpected ways and shows delight in creating something new.
  • Showing imagination in play and interactions with others to explore possible uses of objects and materials.
  • Engaging in pretend or make-believe play with other children.

Target age range: for ages 18 months–3 years plus caregiver

Cost per child/student: $50
