Hooves, Halters and Horticulture

Description: Discover the science behind growing plants and raising livestock. Explore animal husbandry and horticulture through discussion, hands-on activities and farm chores.

Fall classes focus on the harvest and preparing for winter. Spring classes concentrate on a new growing season and new life on the farm.

This curriculum is part of a two-year rotation of four sessions (in the fall and spring of each year). Participants may start at any point in the four sessions. Participants do not need to enroll in the full two years, but they will benefit the most if they are able to do so.

Target age range: Hooves, Halters & Horticulture is designed for the skills and interests of children ages 10 to 13 years.

Cost per child/student: $89
Cost per adult/educator: free, welcome as assistants to farm educator

Maximum class size: 10 students
If the class is full, call Gale Woods Farm at 763-694-2001 to be placed on the wait list. Additional educators will be added, as available, if there is sufficient interest.

Parent/guardian/educator policy: Hooves, Halters & Horticulture is a drop-off class. Parents are welcome to attend in the role of volunteer assistants to the Farm Educator.
