Final performance on Tuesday, May 22

Description: The galaxy is in trouble and it’s up to you to defend it. “Boldly go where no kid has gone before.” “Do or do not, there is no try” as you adventure through space on a mission to save the galaxy. Encounter extraterrestrials and strange new worlds. Galaxy Defenders are ready for action!

Throughout this class young artists collaborate to create an original play using their imaginations & teamwork to develop the plot, characters, dialogue, and setting.

Create a Play is SteppingStone’s introduction to devised theatre where young Artists collaborate on an original performance using their own ideas for story, character, dialogue and setting. Supported by a SST Teaching Artist, each class learns skills in theatre elements like acting through voice and movement, improvisation and exploring different expressive styles.

Theatre learning at ages 8-12 looks like:

  • Asking critical questions about characters and plot based on given circumstances.
  • Collectively refine and evolve artistic choices in group devised drama work.
  • Scaffold and build on performance skills in voice, movement and acting.

Target age range: for ages 8–12 years (2nd–6th grades)

Cost per child/student: $100

Registration: Register online at Late registrations welcome.
