Calendar Submission Guidelines

Homeschool Adventures is an all-volunteer homeschool support group made up of nothing but homeschooling parents working together, volunteering our time, to pool information about local homeschool opportunities for our kids and make this fabulous and free community-created resource that the entire local homeschool community can use.

The homeschool event submission form is for local inclusive secular homeschool events including classes, field trips, workshops and discount days.

The submission form was developed by the community to elicit answers to the questions most commonly asked. Please try to include all the information requested (that is applicable). If you feel unsure or uncertain about anything asked, just answer to the best of your ability as a volunteer will review your submission and clean it up if necessary prior to publication.

If you prefer, you may submit your event information via email instead.

Submissions may be edited for compliance with these posting guidelines or to fit our website formatting and style preferences.

We welcome your submission of local inclusive secular homeschool events!

If it’s not local, not inclusive, not secular, not homeschool or not an event, please read below for our policies. Please do not complete the Homeschool Event submission form as all other programs must be sent via email for review by our all-volunteer Calendar Editor team comprised of local homeschooling parents.

  • Local means that the homeschool event should fall within or be close to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metropolitan Area in Minnesota.
    • This area is also commonly called the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.
    • This area is defined in various way but includes, at a minimum, destinations in Minnesota’s Hennepin County, Ramsey County, Dakota County, Anoka County, Washington County, Scott County, Carver County, Wright County, Sherburne County, Chisago County, Isanti County, Le Sueur County, Mille Lacs County, and Sibley County, and Wisconsin’s Saint Croix County and Pierce County.
    • Exceptions — Exceptions are made solely at the discretion of our all-volunteer Calendar Editor team comprised of local homeschooling parents.
      • Excursions outside the metro area that are organized by a local homeschooling parent (or teen). These excursions typically include travel plans or travel information from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metropolitan Area, including overnight accommodation plans or information if necessary.
        • We will not include invitations to set up such an excursion or non-local excursions set-up by non-local organizers.
      • Because we recognized that the boundaries of the metro area are amorphous, we prefer to be lenient with want counts as “close to” the metro area, especially for unique events or those organized by a homeschooling parent or homeschooled teen.
  • Inclusive means that everyone is welcome.
    • Other than age (or grade) restrictions, events should welcome all homeschoolers regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability or handicap, familial status, marital status, religion, etc.
    • Secular means nonreligious or having no religious content, requirements or affiliations.
      • Participants may or may not hold religious beliefs and should be welcome regardless.
        • The event organizers, presenters or instructors also may or may not hold religious beliefs.
      • There should no religious teachings or practices.
        • Religious content may be addressed or included from a cultural, historical, sociological or anthropological perspective.
      • There should be no attempt or intent to convert participants, whether overt, subtle or covert.
      • A secular program may be held at a house of worship and a person holding religious beliefs may offer a wholly secular program. Our intent is to ensure that any homeschool event listed on our calendar treats all participants, including atheists, pagans, and LGBTQI parents and youth, as equally welcome, meaning included in all event activities and without intent to convert or change them.
  • Homeschool means events designed or intended for homeschooled students, parents or families.
    • Homeschool events are typically…
      1. held during the daytime, on a weekday and during the school year
        • It is understood that some events may involve non-homeschooling family members and friends, but the primary target audience should be homeschoolers.
        • Evening, weekend, and summer programs that are more aptly described as “homeschoolers are also welcome” should not be submitted.
      2. for homeschooled children ages 5 to 17
        • events intended exclusively for homeschool educators are also welcome
        • events intended exclusively for homeschooled preschoolers are also welcome
          • Preschool programs that are more aptly described as “homeschoolers are also welcome” should not be submitted.
    • Exceptions — Exceptions are made solely at the discretion of our all-volunteer Calendar Editor team comprised of local homeschooling parents.
      • Educator Discount Days that welcome homeschool participants.
      • Daytime-weekday events that welcome homeschool students while not being specifically targeted toward them.
  • Event means that it has a date and time.
    • If you’re stumbling on the date field, you have the wrong form. Please check our submission form overview to choose the right form.

Homeschool Co-op Classes

All Homeschool Groups in Minnesota (or near the state line) are encouraged to use our Group Submission Form to be included in our Homeschool Group Directory.

Our Calendar Editor volunteers do not enter homeschool group events on our website Calendar but will publish all local inclusive secular homeschool events offered by local homeschool groups, provided that the group completes the Event Submission Form and the event otherwise falls within our submission guidelines.

Our Calendar Editor volunteers will not forward information about homeschool groups. If you are a local homeschooler, you are encouraged to join the HSAdventures Yahoo Group and Facebook HSAdventures Group where you may post about your homeschool group’s programs yourself.

Homeschool Adventures is a support and information-sharing network for homeschool families not a marketing group for local organizations.

While it is exceedingly rare that an organization’s desire to promote local inclusive secular homeschool opportunities conflicts with our members’ desire to know about the same, should a conflict arise, our top priority is the interests of our members. Should the homeschooling parents who comprise our all-volunteer Leadership Council feel that your marketing material is incomplete, unclear, misleading or otherwise inappropriate, we may decline to share it with our members or opt to alter so as to best serve the interests of our members.

Submissions may be edited for compliance with these posting guidelines or to fit our website formatting and style preferences.
