Minnesota Homeschoolers’ Alliance

Minnesota Homeschoolers’ Alliance (MHA) is a statewide organization that has been providing information and support to homeschooling families in Minnesota since 1982.

MHA is a secular nonpolitical, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization inclusive of all homeschoolers. MHA members are a diverse group of families with different backgrounds and different approaches to homeschooling who all share a common goal: to encourage and facilitate families that choose to educate their children at home.

The Minnesota Homeschoolers’ Alliance is committed to ...

  • Encouraging and enabling homeschooling families through educational and networking opportunities, activities, and guidance on homeschooling issues;
  • Providing information and support to families considering the homeschooling option; and
  • Raising community awareness, correcting misconceptions, and providing information about the legal option of home education.

MHA is committed to fulfilling its mission without discrimination based on race, religion, or educational philosophy.

Children's Ages: all ages; MHA offers support and encouragement to every homeschooler, no matter how or why you homeschool.

Costs: Join today! MHA offers both a free Basic membership and a Premium membership (with additional perks!) for just $25 per year.

Minnesota Laws & Forms

Minnesota law requires homeschooling families to report certain information to their school district once a year. One of the easiest ways to understand and comply with the the reporting requirements is to “walk through” the The MHA Homeschool Reporting Form. Just print a copy of the form's PDF and fill in the blanks with your family’s information while you’re reading through it.

Use Caution With Other Reporting Forms! Your school district may have forms of its own that it wants you to use, and it may even insist that you “have” to use their forms. You don’t, and their forms often ask for more information than they’re entitled to receive.
