The River Valley Leos Club

Scandia Community Center

14727 209th Street North
Scandia, MN 55073

Description: The River Valley Leos Club is an organization dedicated to service and the support of the community. The club is a youth branch of the Scandia-Marine Lions, whom we will partner with on various service projects, meetings, and events.

We lead service projects, fundraise for organizations (local, regional, national, and global), and participate in many volunteer-based opportunities in our area.

Our goal is to help those around us through service and leave a positive impact on our local community as well as the state, region, and world.

The Leos Club is a great way to have fun, make friends with other teens who enjoy making a positive difference, and develop leadership skills.

Meetings held during the even months (e.g., October, December, February, April, June, August) will be for Leos (teens) only. Meetings held during odd months (e.g., September, November, January, March, May, July) will include service projects that the Leos do with Lions (adults/seniors) to foster intergenerational learning, communication, and skill-building.

In addition to club activities, the Leos have opportunities to participate in state, district, and national camps and conventions that are specifically for teens. At these events, youth develop their leadership and public speaking skills; do service projects; and have fun meeting other like-minded teens.

Children's Ages: 12-18 years old.  (Please note: There is no programming for younger siblings. This is a time for teens to volunteer, have fun with, and learn with one another as well as work with adult volunteers.)

When do you meet? The first meeting of the 2017-18 year will be Thursday, September 21st from 3-5 p.m. at the Scandia Community Center. Typically Leo Club meetings have a short business meeting followed by a community service project(s). Please RSVP to Ann at annmarierink(at)hotmail [dot] com if you plan to attend/join the Leos.

The youth attending the meeting will determine if the time and day work well or if a Sunday meeting date (from 12-2 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix) is preferred.

The first field trip of the year will be to Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, September 30th from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM at FMSC - Coon Rapids - 401 93rd Ave NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. You must pre-register by going here: http://volunteer.fmsc.org/Register/Group/JoinGroup.aspx?gid=1206464 .

The first Leo camp of the year will be held on October 13th-15th in Annandale (MN). (Please note: You must be a Leo in order to attend camp. You may become a Leo at the first meeting on September 21st at the Scandia Community Center.)
