Description: The Soaring Eagles 4-H Club is designed for homeschool families who prefer to meet during the day and connect with other homeschoolers. Children who are 5-19 years old may participate in either the Cloverbud program (5-7 year olds) or regular 4-H program (8-19 year old youth and teens).
We are unique in that members come from four different counties in Minnesota and one county in Wisconsin, but are a part of the Chisago-County 4-H program.
The goal of the Soaring Eagles 4-H club is the same as that of the 4-H program in general: long-term youth development which encourages participants to learn life skills that will help them grow into healthy and productive citizens.
We aim to help youth:
=> Develop a zest and skill for life-long learning.
=> Acquire confidence and a positive attitude toward self.
=> Develop leadership, citizenship, and teamwork skills.
=> Explore possible vocations and careers.
=> Learn to manage time wisely and set priorities.
=> Interact with adults who serve as role models.
Each 4-H meeting has a hands-on project and/or guest speaker; community service activity; demonstration by a 4-H youth; game; business meeting; and snack.
Children's Ages: 4-H is open to youth who are 5-19 years old. Members in our club are between 5-15 years old.
When do you meet? The first Thursday of each month (except July and August when we don't have club meetings). Please note: the September 2015 meeting will be held on the second Thursday (September 10th) since the first Thursday is close to the Labor Day weekend.
Costs: Youth may sample a meeting at no cost to make a decision about whether they want to become a member. Thereafter, youth complete a membership form and pay yearly membership dues that cover county and club fees. The county dues are $25 per child with a $50 cap per family. Club dues will be between $20-30 per child. (Scholarships for the county dues are available for those with financial challenges. There is no scholarship program for club dues.)
Religious Affiliation: None.
