Homeschool classes

Braemar Arena uses the United States Figure Skating (USFS) Basic Skills and USA Hockey Learn to Skate Program to determine skating levels. Instructors are professionally accredited in both hockey and figure skating from the USFS and USA Hockey.

Lead Instructor Kathleen Gazich is Master Rated through the Professional Skaters Association, is a National and International level coach for figure skating, and has worked with Division 1 hockey prospects.

Cost per child/student: $143/12-week sessions
Sibling discount: $20 discount for each additional sibling ($121/sibling).

Target age range: ages 3 through adult

Cancellation policies:

  • A $5 processing fee will be subtracted from each refund
  • For withdrawals before the 4th class meeting, the refund amount will be reduced by the number of class sessions which have already occurred, whether attended or not.
  • Late registrations are not prorated.
  • Make-up lessons for missed classes are not available. Participants may not show up at any other time than the time they’ve registered for in order to keep to the established ratios.

Open Skating

Braemar Arena offers public indoor open skating in a controlled climate, great for those days when it's too cold and blustery to ice skate at outdoor rinks or when you want to escape the summer heat!

Cost per child/student: $4 regardless of age
Cost per adult/educator: $4
Skate rental: $2/pair

Open Skating Season Pass: $135 for first two family members + $5 for each additional family member (Edina residents and city employees pay $120 for first two family members). All family pass members must live at the same address. The family pass may include children of all ages, nannies, foreign exchange students and grandchildren. The pass is non-transferable to any family member or guest not listed.

Saturday and Sunday, 1:10pm–2:40pm

Open Skating is unsupervised.

Open Skating Guidelines

  • No one is permitted on the ice without skates
  • Lessons (paid instruction) are not allowed
  • No speeding, playing games or skating against the traffic
  • Figure skating (jumping and spinning) and backwards skating in the center area only.
  • Plastic skate aids only are allowed; no chairs, etc.
  • No carrying of children while skating
  • No hockey sticks or pucks on the ice
  • Throwing of snowballs or other objects is not allowed
  • All persons must leave the ice during resurfacing times
  • No eating or drinking on the ice
  • Braemar Arena is not responsible for lost or stolen items

Driving directions: From US Hwy 169, take the Valley View Rd exit. Turn right onto the frontage road on the east side of highway to the Arena.
