Description: A recreated historical village with 22 buildings dating between 1860 and 1920. Costumed docents lead tours through selected buildings, telling their history and use from 1900. Hands-on activities and interactive opportunities make history come alive for all ages.

Field trips

Tours are offered from mid-September through the end of October / early November and again from April through June.

Description: Spend a day back in time and learn how people lived in the 1900's. A costumed docent guides visitors through selected buildings, explaining their history and use. Students' learning is enhanced with interactive and hands-on opportunities in the Village, making history come alive for all ages.

Three tours are available:

  1. Hands-On History (for K-2nd grades)
    A 2-hour walking tour through 10 of the historical buildings with a costumed guide, geared for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Children could participate in hands-on activities such as ringing the school bell, using a slate board and chalk, touching items in the blacksmith building, helping with chores, and others. Bring a bag lunch and eat on the picnic grounds.
     
  2. Village Experience (for 3rd grade and up)
    A 2-hour walking tour through 10 of the historical buildings with a costumed guide, geared for 3rd grade and up. Children could participate in hands-on activities such as ringing the school bell, using a slate board and chalk, touching items in the blacksmith building, helping with chores, and others. Bring a bag lunch and eat on the picnic grounds.
     
  3. One-Room School (for 2nd–5th grades)
    A 4-hour tour that includes 2-hours in an authentic one-room school with a costumed school marm, bring-your-own lunch, and a village tour through the buildings with a costumed guide.

Cost per child/student: $7
Cost per adult/educator: $7*

Minimum group size: 10
Maximum group size: 100

Target grade level: program options for 1st grade through 8th grade

Sibling policy: All children ages 3 and up must pay the admission fee.
*Parent/guardian/educator policy: All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 2 free educators/chaperones per 25 students.

Cancellation policy/Cancellation deadline: A minimum of 1 week's notice is required for cancellations without financial penalty. Tours are held regardless of weather.
