At Minnesota Children's Museum, educational activities are packed into endless amounts of fun and every visit is loaded with opportunities for investigating, playing and learning. The Museum’s educational environment is infused with excitement and interactions, making it one of the top destinations in Minnesota for educator and student visits. Field trips

The Museum offers self-guided field trips that let you and your students explore the Museum at your own pace. For groups with 20 or more children, call ahead (651-225-6000) to reserve a visit of the Museum where your students can discover hands-on, curriculum-supporting exhibits that are sure to pique their curiosity and make learning fun.

Children and adults alike with disabilities easily experience all areas of the Museum. If you have questions or require assistance during your visit, please ask a Museum staff member. Special needs groups, please call 651-225-6000.

Group visits are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays all year, and summer Mondays from late May through August. The first Thursday of the month is reserved exclusively for PreK through K groups.

Group visits are 2 to 3 hours in length.

Cost per child/student: $4.75
Cost per adult/educator: $4.75, 1 adult admitted FREE for every 4 children

Minimum group size: 20 children
Maximum group size: 120 children

Target grade level: Pre-K through 4th grade

Sibling policy: Due in part to the extra services provided for group visitors, it is necessary that every child in attendance is charged at the agreed rate. Individual tickets and family memberships to Minnesota Children's Museum do not apply for group visits.
Parent/guardian/educator policy: A minimum ratio of one adult (admitted free) for every four students is required.

Cancellation policy/Cancellation deadline: A non-refundable deposit is due two weeks from the date of the confirmation letter by credit card or business check. Any remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the scheduled visit. Should more children than the reserved number attend on the field trip day, they can be paid for upon arrival.

The Play for All Group Scholarship Program is designed to reach schools and nonprofit organizations that serve economically disadvantaged children and families. Qualifying organizations must show proof that at least 70% of the children and families they serve are economically disadvantaged and/or receive free or reduced lunches as part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Cost per child/student: $2.50 (scholarship rate)
Cost per adult/educator: $2.50 (scholarship rate), 1 adult admitted FREE for every 4 children

Homeschool Discount Program

Homeschool families and cooperatives are invited to join the Museum as part of the Small Group Discount Program. As part of the program, you will receive special group rates to make Museum visits convenient and affordable. There are no reservations or minimum group size requirements.

Groups with 20 or more children must reserve a standard field trip space.

Homeschool Discount Program Benefits:

  • Reduced admission rate of $4.75 per child (age one and older)
  • FREE admission for children younger than one.
  • FREE admission for adult chaperones within chaperone ratio (one adult for every four children).
  • Additional adults over the chaperone ratio are welcome at $4.75 per person.

To apply, download an application form below and bring it to the Museum with a copy of your documentation and enroll at the Museum Box Office. Applications can also be mailed to the Museum or faxed via 651-225-6006.

Acceptable documentation includes:

  • Homeschool letter of intent from the state
  • Homeschool association/alliance identification card

Getting there

Parking information: Parking is available in the World Trade Center parking ramp located on the northeast corner of 7th and Wabasha streets, kitty corner to the Museum, and connected to the Museum by skyway. Enter the left lane of the ramp from Wabasha Street and park for only $4 for your first three hours! The World Trade Center parking ramp is now an automated facility. You will need to bring your parking ticket into the Museum to receive the Museum's parking discount.

The World Trade Center parking ramp accepts cash and credit cards as acceptable forms of payment; checks are no longer allowed.
