The Minnesota Orchestra is now in its second century and ranks among America’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances around the world, award-winning recordings, and educational outreach programs. The ensemble presents nearly 200 programs each year, primarily at its home venue of Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis. Its Friday night performances are broadcast live regionally by Minnesota Public Radio—a weekly tradition for more than 35 years.


Young People's Concerts

Young People's Concerts are for schools, homeschools and families looking for educational opportunities. Each Minnesota Orchestra Young People's Concert focuses on a specific musical element, composer, time period or theme.

Individual homeschool families can order tickets tickets to attend any of the Young People's Concerts.

Target Age Range/Grade Level/Prerequisite Skills: best for children ages 6 and up

Sibling Policy: Parents are asked to use their best judgement as to whether or not their younger children will be disruptive to other audience members.
Parent/Guardian/Educator Policy: All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Orchestra Hall Tours: Backstage tours of Orchestra Hall are occasionally available following the 11:35am Young People's Concert. Contact the Education/Outreach office at 612-371-7197 for more information.

Homeschool Family Workshops

Free workshops for homeschool families are presented at Orchestra Hall in conjunction with each Young People's Concert.

Registration: To attend a workshop, first purchase your tickets to the concert, then contact the Education/Outreach office at education@mnorch.org or 612-371-7197 to reserve space for your family. Please indicate which workshop you plan to attend, the number of children/adults attending, and your ticket order number.

Student Groups

Student groups may reserve and purchase seats to select Minnesota Orchestra concerts in advance with confirmed seat locations. Ask about adding a backstage tour or musician meet-and-greet session to enhance your experience.

Getting There

Metro Transit: Metro Transit routes 10, 11, 17, 18 and 25 run on Nicollet Ave; disembark on Nicollet at 11th St. For additional routes on Marquette Ave and Hennepin Ave, visit Metro Transit.

Driving Directions:

From the Northeast: Follow I-35W South to I-94 West. Exit on 11th St. Follow 11th St for three blocks. The Hall is located on the left side of 11th St between Marquette Ave and Nicollet Mall.

From the Northwest: Follow I-94 East to the Hennepin Ave exit. Turn left onto Hennepin, heading north. Proceed on Hennepin for 4 blocks to 12th St. Turn right onto 12th and proceed to Marquette Ave. Turn left onto Marquette and go one block. Turn left onto 11th St and the Orchestra Hall driveway is on your immediate left. The Hall is located on 11th St between Marquette Ave and Nicollet Mall.

From the South: Follow I-35W North to the "Downtown Exits" signs and take the 11th St exit. Proceed on 11th, a one-way street heading west, for three blocks. The Hall is located on the left side of 11th St between Marquette Ave and Nicollet Mall.

From the East: Follow I-94 West to the 11th St exit. Proceed on 11th, a one-way street heading west, for three blocks. The Hall is located on the left side of 11th St between Marquette Ave and Nicollet Mall.

From the West: Follow I-394 East to the 12th St exit. Proceed on 12th St, a one-way street heading east, for six blocks to Marquette Ave. Turn left onto Marquette and go one block to 11th St. Turn left again onto 11th St and the Orchestra Hall driveway is on your immediate left. The Hall is located on 11th St between Marquette Ave and Nicollet Mall.
