Homeschool Workshops

Enjoy a different hands-on workshop each month from October through April. Usually on the first Monday of the month.

Target age range: The workshops are designed for children ages 5 to 12 in the company of a parent or other responsible adult.

Museum admission is not included or required.
Cost per child/student: $8 ($6/Works members)
Cost per adult educator: free

Parent/guardian/educator policy: All children must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

Workshops & Custom Class Series

Experience exciting hands-on engineering activities and science fun. Schedule a workshop or a custom series of classes based on summer camp curricula.

Workshops are ½ hour, 1 hour, 1½, or 2 hours in length and include an introduction to the Engineering Design Process, hands-on activities, and a take-home project.

Minimum Group Size: 15 students for single workshop
8 students for a custom class series
Maximum Group Size: 30 students per classroom, up to two classrooms (or up to 60 students).
up to 120 students, split into two groups, for a workshop combined with museum admission

Museum admission is not included or required.
Cost per Child/Student: $6–$12

Field Trips: Museum Visits

Schedule a 1-hour museum visit for your homeschool group.

Curious kids can touch, try, and explore on the exhibit floor, and take on engineering design challenges in the Design Lab. Exhibits and challenges engage kids in science, technology and engineering and make learning memorable and fun.

Target grade level: appropriate for pre-K through 6th grade

Cost per child/student: $4
Cost per adult educator: unknown

Getting There

Parking Information: There is plenty of free parking in the lot on site.

Driving Directions: The Works is located 9740 Grand Ave in Bloomington, near the intersection of Lyndale and 98th St and about 3 miles southwest of the Mall of America and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport.

From I-35W, take the 98th St exit. Turn east at the top of the exit, then turn left at Garfield Dr. Turn right into the second driveway.
