Subjects taught: Voice (Singing) and Music Theory

Teaching style: I challenge my students to learn both music theory and proper singing techniques in their lesson through a variety of genres of vocal music and use of the MMTA music theory program.  I have expertise in tailoring lessons to each individual student's needs.  Lessons are NOT one size fits all.  My studio is comfortable, relaxed, fun, and structured.  I have experience with students with special needs too.  

Qualifications: MN teaching license(music), Bachelor of Music:  K-12 General and Vocal Music Education  and Vocal Performance (UW-Madison, 1998), Master of Education:  Curriculum and Instruction with ESL approval (National Louis University, Chicago, 2005), Member of National Music Teachers Association, MN Music Teachers Association, South Suburban Music Teachers Association, National Association for Teachers of Singing
Experience: Over 2 decades teaching vocal music in some form.  Taught 9 years as K-6 general music and choral director in Palatine, IL (CCSD 15).  Over a decade of private voice instruction through UW-Madison community outreach, Madison School of Music, ISD 194 Lakeville Community Education, and my own private studio, Cara Mattson Music Studio.
